The Old Masters collection in the former church Johanniterkirche in Schwäbisch Hall, with the “Darmstadt Madonna” by Hans Holbein the Younger, continues to draw visitors from beyond the region. Kofi Annan, Nobel Peace Prize ­laureate and former Secretary General of the United Nations, was a prominent and enthusiastic visitor. The ­“Pfullendorf Altar” by the anonymous Pfullendorf Master was a late ­medieval painting specimen of the highest ­quality. The precious pieces were on loan from Staats­galerie Stuttgart and Städel Museum in Frankfurt.
